How the process works:
Step 1: Collect Your Documentation
The Mortgage Assessor at Community Housing Works or San Diego Home Loan Counseling and Education Center will need for you to bring as many documents that you have that is related to your mortgage statements, lender correspondences, proof of income and other documents that may be applicable to your special situation. To better prepare yourself for the next step, fill out the Apply Now For Loan Mod Help so we may email you the entire “Loan Modifications Document Checklist” to get yourself ready for a comprehensive mortgage analysis at your confidential and specific session. Be sure to be prepared for when you go to the meeting, this is where we help you, to get ready for the meeting!
Step 2: Set up a Meeting
The estimated two hour meeting with one of the Foreclosure Prevention Counselors at Community Housing Works or The San Diego Home Loan Counseling and Education Center will begin the process to evaluate if your particular situation is negotiable with your lender. Step 3: Loan Modification/ Short Sale or Foreclosure?
Hopefully your loan modification was approved if is not you will be faced with the decision of a short sale or a foreclosure? If you stay in the house without paying your mortgage the bank will eventually foreclose and possibly offer you $2500 (cash for keys) to move out of the house as long as you leave it decent condition or if you do not want to go through the Loan Modification processApply Now for Short Sale.
